The girl’s swim season are building up to the league title. The team's record is currently 3-2 but have faced other teams who are not in their league like Dearborn, Huron and New Boston making their record 4-4.
The team is third in the league with Woodhaven in second and Trenton in first while remaining undefeated in the league. Allen Park, who had a close meet against the girls, are currently in fourth because of a loss from the Bears.
Swim coach Susan Alt has noticed the hard work the girls have put into the season and is proud of what she has seen from the girls.
“These are very hard working girls...there are teams with bigger numbers like Trenton but the girls always have a great work ethic and attitude going into every meet,” Alt said.
Alt athe coachinglso states with the amount of new talent on the team she is not worried for future years.
So far at every meet each girl has made a personal record in their events that they swim.
Junior Sydney Labell has seen improvement and is proud of what she has been able to accomplish.
“Personally, I am continuing to improve everyday...I have grown so much since last year and dropped time at almost every meet,” Labell said. “Overall the team is doing much better than we expected and each girl has improved immensely, and it is very exciting to watch them grow,” Labell said.
Although the team had lost to Woodhaven and Trenton, the girls are hoping to beat them at leagues with the help of junior diver Marissa Woida.
“As tough of competition they were [Woodhaven and Trenton], I feel that with the help from all the divers and all swimmers the team could come out on top,” Woida said. “Injuries have affected some on this team but we hope that they are healthy for leagues and can help us take home the trophy,”.
