Senior Jimmy Breaux signed a basketball scholarship for fall of 2020 with the University of Michigan-Dearborn on November 5.
“I love the sport and I’m good at it so I would like to continue playing for as long as I can,” Breaux said.
Breaux had multiple offers to continue playing the sport he loves but could not say no to the opportunity and offer given by U of M-Dearborn. Being signed even before his last high school season is a big deal for Breaux.
“It feels different, like I have a lot on my shoulders and a lot to prove,” Breaux said.
Because it is a lot of pressure, Breaux already has plans to prepare for playing in college.
“I’m planning on working out a lot, running laps and shooting the ball a ton,” Breaux said.
Though he is pressured, Breaux knows what sets him apart from other players.
“I’m very versatile, I can shoot and I’m long,” Breaux said.
Not only is Breaux proud of himself and knows what makes him stand out, his family does as well.
“Well he’s like 6’7 but even though that helps him, I’m proud of him; I’ve always known that he could do it,” sophomore Ethan Breaux said.
Though it is very clear that J. Breaux will be missed by the Bears and family alike, both have high hopes for his first college season.
