On November 16, 2019, the Wyandotte Music department held its annual Band Sweetheart Dance.
The dance, held in the cafeteria, is a dinner-dance for music students. The night starts off by students arriving and choosing their tables for dinner. Once 6:30 hits music teacher, Mark D’Angelo, begins calling students up for dinner. Once dinner ends students begin to raid the dance floor and dance the night away.
Junior color guard and acapella choir member Brooklyn Dewing said, “I prefer the music at band sweetheart more than homecoming because it makes a better atmosphere.”
During the dance there is a plethora of things for students to do from interacting with every section of the band's table decorations to taking fun photos in the photo booth.
Junior color guard and acapella choir member Maddy Cannon said, “My favorite part about Band Sweetheart is the people and the overall atmosphere.”
At the end of the night, the seniors of the music department line up on the stage to sing and dance the department’s traditional songs, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Friends are Friends Forever”.
“I plan on attending next year. It's the only school dance I look forward to,” Dewing said.
