RHS holds quad wrestling meet

Nick Hickey and Dorian Soto, Reporters   On Wednesday, January 24, Roosevelt’s wrestling team had a meet against Woodhaven, Lincoln Park, and Melvindale.   “I think I started off a little slow but wrestled a tough senior from Woodhaven,” sophomore, 140lb, Jared Diechelbohrer said. “Then I came back in my second match and got a pin for the team.”   Good performances were done overall by Jake Campbell, Angel Valentine, and Hiram Robinson. As well as the team as a whole defeating Lincoln Park 63-17 but still suffering a loss to Woodhaven 37-33.  “I think our whole team did real good against Woodhaven, yeah we didn’t win but we had some close matches,” Diechelbohrer said. “As for Lincoln Park, we did pretty well against them.”   Hoping for a better outcome at the next meet, Diechelbohrer wants to better himself however he can.   “I’m just gonna go back in the wrestling room and wrestle everyday,” Diechelbohrer said.“Next meet I just really need to come out fast and ready to go.”

Emma is a senior and is the Editor-in-Chief. She has been part of the Wy-News for three years. Inside school she is the Head Drum Major of the Wyandotte Marching Chiefs, Vice President of National Honors Society, an officer of Tri-M, and a member of Student Council, Link Crew, jazz band, and science club. Outside of school she is first chair cellist at Dearborn Youth Symphony and a member of Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also likes to kickbox, babysit, and hang out with friends. “I joined newspaper my sophomore year because I love to get involved with everything the school has to offer. However, has been so much more than just a class. I would truly be a different person if it weren’t for the Wy-News and the people in it.”
