Caitlyn Sloat and Nicholas McPhall, Reporters     Friday March 2, through Saturday March 3, three students from RHS attended the state wrestling meet for Michigan High Schools. “It’s a whole different ball game, than if you’re at a regular season tournament. You’ll see someone [at the state tournament] and be like ‘dang he’s ranked in the state’, but at the state tournament, everyone’s ranked,” sophomore varsity wrestler Kyle Cox said. This year was the first year the Michigan Wrestling state championship was held at Ford Field, it used to be at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Senior varsity wrestler Hiram Robinson went on to win his first three matches. He then lost the fourth match to the eventual state champion. Robinson won his fifth match leading him to take third in the state. Junior varsity wrestler Jake Campbell started off strong by pinning his kid for a win. Then Campbell went on to lose 6-4 to his second match, and then lost his third one, knocking him out of the tournament. Cox got pinned in both his first and second match, causing him to be bumped out of the tournament. “Everyone wants to be on top. Everyone wants it,” Cox said. “It comes down to who works harder, and who’s more mentally tough.”
